Outlook 2010 Create Rules

0
0

At my work we use outlook 2010. I open outlook everyday and run rules to move emails from the inbox i have been given access to to the corresponding subfolders and they have the shared folder icon w/blue arrows. I currently have rules that work but i can not create a new one or modify the existing ones. The rule I am writing is super simple. Here is what i am doing, step 1 stay organized move messages from someone to a folder, select from people or public group, under step 2 i click the blue underlined word"people or public group" select what i need, click next, select move it to the specified folder, then in step 2 here is the problem, I click blue underlined "specified" i select a folder that i need and its shared w/blue arrows and when i select it and click okay it doesn't take and I can't finished creating the rule. I also can not modify an old rule for this same step either. What gives?

Outlook anywhere slow to sync new emails

Exchange 2010 (hosted) clients use Outlook Anywhere, Outlook 2010 on 2 computers (desktop XP, laptop 7), iPhone (ActiveSync)

It may just be a coincidence but ever since we put a users account back on his iPhone both his Outlook's have been very slow to receive emails. Sometimes 60 minutes will pass before an email (that is on his iPhone and in his webmail inbox) makes it to his Outlooks. This has happened at multiple locations (laptop, multiple internet connections). I know that iOS 6.1.2 still has that Exchange 2010 bug and am wondering if their Exchange hosted service is seeing all these connections and refusing some of them(?) I've already reloaded his Outlook profile and it's behaving exactly the same. No other users are experiencing this issue.

Any other ideas?

Outlook 2007 sent emails not reaching recipients

I recently sent a broadcast email for an industry event this week (I have never sent an email to hundreds at the same time)....ever since, although my sent emails are reflected in the 'sent items' they are not reaching the intended recipients.  I have confirmed that it is not my ISP so I believe it is an Outlook issue.  Could I have triggered something as a result of the mass email?  Please help!  D

Outlook 2010 - .msg file error " Cannot read the item"

We are running Outlook 2010 and Office 365.

I have a user that saves important emails to his network drive as a .msg files.  Most of the files he can open but there are a few that he cannot.  He receives the message  "Cannot read the item" when he tries to open them.

When I go to the network drive and try to open the .msg file I get the same message.  I had him email the message to me as an attachment.  When I try to open the attachment from inside the message I get error "you don't' have appropriate permission to perform this operation".  When I save the attachment to my computer I receive the "Cannot read the item" error again.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hello,

Our company works in all the European languages. There's something wrong with our default PC image and when we try to set the default language for spell checking in Outlook 2010 to English, it keeps going back to German.

Any ideas where to check please?

Thanks,

Connect Exchange Anywhere using a proxy server

Hello,

in our lan we use a proxy server for internet connection.

If I use Windows XP and Outlook 2010 to connect Exchnage Anywhere (Office 365) I don't have any problem.

If I use Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 or 2013 the connection fail because Outlook don't use a proxy but try a direct connection (dropped from the firewall)

I have proxy configured in IE 9 and with NETSH in the WINHTTP.

How I can configure Outlook 2010 or 2013 in Windows 7 (all x64 enviroment) to use proxy settings?

Thanks,

Outlook 2013 WebDAV change publishing options broken

In Outlook 2013, after I successfully publish a calendar to a WebDAV server, I cannot update the publishing configuration. The path in the publish box includes the filename, which is a different behavior than prior versions of Outlook which left out the filename. When I click to update with the path as Outlook entered it, the pub fails. When I remove the filename and leave just the path that I entered for the first successful pub, Outlook crashes and restarts. I also notice that the updates don't always succeed after the first one. This feature appears to be broken in this version. I'm running Outlook 2013 from a Technet download, ver: 15.0.1420.1017

Outlook 2010: delay send (continued)

Hi all,

I saw a question with the title "Outlook 2010: delay send" in exchangesvrclients, thread c71ec6df-dde0-4ac1-a259-497cf8506c9e (I cannot post links). You'll manage the figure out the forum URL with that info :-)

That question wasn't actually answered in my opinion. Since I doubt if somebody will read that answered question, I like to continue on it. I have the same experience:

- When you send a mail on 08:43:42 (for example) and you have a rule that states that sent mail is to be delayed 1 minute
- The mail will be send on 08:44:00 (18 seconds later), and not 08:44:42, 1 minute later, as you would expect.

I tried to reproduce it. Same experience. So, i dragged the message out of the Outbox and opened it. If I do that, I see Outlook has actually filled in the time on the "do not deliver before" option, in my example for 08:44. Since that field cannot contain seconds, but just minutes, I have the impression that Outlook cannot delay mails for an exact minute since the submission (unless of course, the mail is sent on 08:44:00).

Is this assumption correct, and is this behaviour by design? And more importantly: did Outlook 2003 act differently? My users say so.

Thanks in advance!

IMAP account crashes on initial connection test

I am using Outlook 2013 with an IMAP account (doesn't matter which one I use, Gmail or my own domain). I did a full repair of Office 2013 (looks like a reinstall), but I am still getting problems with setting up an email account, it Crashes whenever I get to the final stage where all the settings are set and it starts trying to send an email. It just crashes and restarts outlook. I tried creating new profiles, deleting old ones, even from the Mail in Control Panel with Outlook closed. Nothing seems to work.

Outlook 2010 only partial rules work

Dear all,

Below is our architecture:

On-Hybrid exchange 2010 & Office 365

Outlook 2010 connect to Office 365 with non-Cache mode

When I just migrate my account to Office 365, the rules run fine.

However, after two days, suddenly, some rules do not work!

When I manual execute the rules, the rules run fine.

I have tried export all rules, delete all rules, close Outlook 2010, open Outlook 2010, import the rules.

But it is not working.

How can I make the rules workable again?

Outlook 2013 crashes when using Meeting Notes (OneNote integration feature)

I've replicated this on 3 PCs with 32bit Office 2013.  From within a calendar entry, click on Meeting Notes in the ribbon bar.  Click "Take notes on your own."

OneNote is launched, outlook crashes, and no data is sent to OneNote.

I've searched and found several references to the problem on various websites, but no solutions.  Any ideas where to look or how to troubleshoot?

Thanks!

Outlook 2007/2010 - Delagate and Calendar

Exchange 2010

When I grant user (A) delegate permission of user (B)'s calendar and check 'delegate receives copies of meeting-related messages sent to me'. User (A) is getting an email copy of any calendar appointments to User (B). So that part is working. Is there any way that these appointments can automatically populate USER (A)'s calendar. As would a normal appointment sent directly to any user would.

thanks

Migrating Users From Outlook 2007 on One Machine to Outlook 2010 on Another Machine (Both Windows 7)

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Local Machine pst files -- No Exchange Server

Is that any utility that makes it easy to migrate users from Outlook 2007 on one machine to Outlook 2010 on another machine?

Ideally, I would like to plug in a usb stick on the old machine, copy all files/export all settings (including email account definitions), move the usb stick to the new machine and load everything.  The process should include creating the user's mail profile and importing all settings including email account definitions.

A user profile might contain hundreds of rules and dozens of email accounts.

Any suggestions or do I need to build one from scratch?

Transfer view settings

Recently I had a user computer crash however I had there profile redirected to a network share.  I decided to recreate the users profile in the network location and copy the data from the old profile to the new profile.  After I setup there Exchange mailbox the user came back to me stating the views are not set on the additional mailboxes they had added.  So I had to go through the task of configuring each mailbox with the specific views they had set.  Since this person had multiple mailboxes and each one had a different view this took quite some time to accomplish.  My question is does outlook store the views in a specific file that I could have just copied over from the old to the new profile to retain those settings?  Or is there a way to migrate the views out of outlook?

Thanks

Save Outlook messages to a network folder - Drag and Drop?

0
0

Our office recently migrated from XP to Windows 7/Office 2010.  It is necessary to save client email messages to the client's specific folder on the network. In 2003, I could drag and drop and it was fine.  In 2010, I drag and drop and don't see the date of the email, the to or from fields. What is the preferred manner to do this?

For context, at the end of the month, I sit at an atty's computer and save all the emails to the network, to specific folders for each client. They are then deleted from the local Inbox. We woud like the client's email folder to be a subfolder of their work folder, like this: G:\ClientName\EmailFolder.

Thank you.

Outlook won't send or constantly locks up trying to connect to exchange server on Office 365.

Behaviors:

  • After outlook has been running for a few minutes sent email sits in the outbox without being sent. F9 (send/receive) has no effect. Exiting and restarting Outlook *will* send them.
  • After a few minutes of running normally, Outlook will often freeze. Status icon in the system tray will display one of the following messages:
"Outlook is trying to retrieve data from the Microsoft Exchange server outlook.office365.com"
    or
"Microsoft Outlook cannot connect to the server"
    or
"Microsoft Outlook is requesting data from the server"

The freeze is often triggered if I do something like view a sender's properties, free time or schedule an appointment, or access my inbox rules. When frozen it takes a number of attempts to cancel the process - either by right-clicking the outlook system tray icon and selecting "cancel server request" numerous times or control+clicking the icon, selecting "connection status" and choosing "reconnect". Once Outlook is released from being frozen it'll never send or receive until I exit and restart. In some extreme cases I've had to kill the outlook process in task manager.

***IMPORTANT***: this ONLY occurs from my home network. It has not yet happened if I'm working on site or from a variety of public wifi spots I regularly use.

Configuration:
Office 2010 ver 14.0.6129.5000. Running on two different machines: one Windows 7 Ultimate and another running Windows 8. On the Windows 8 machine my mail profile consists of a single corporate Exchange account that moved to Office 365 in October. The problem started happening shortly thereafter. On the Windows 7 machine I have 2 other outlook accounts in my mail profile: my personal address domain which uses Outlook.com and another business account that uses Office 365. Both machines experience this problem

After a bunch of research and on-line searches I'm convinced my problem is the same as a few others where problem seems to be the router or modem causing some kind of HTTPS timeout. Here are some sample links:
Messages stuck in outbox for up to 20mins - http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/160/t/62139.aspx
Constantly Losing Connection between O365 and Outlook 2010 - http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/158/t/18791.aspx

What I've tried:
I've moved email to a separate offline file to ensure my OST file is small.
I've ensured all windows updates are applied.
I've deleted and recreated mail profiles.
I've setup email profiles with only the corporate Office 365 account.
I've un-installed and re-installed outlook.
I've bypassed all routers, disabled the wifi on the laptop, and connected my PC directly to the Comcast-provided cable modem.
I've run the network monitor program as well and seem to see the same https timeouts or delays mentioned in the posts referenced above. I've reviewed various setting on my home router (D-Link DIR-632) and cannot find anything pertaining to https timeouts.
I do not have any known access to configure my Comcast-provided modem.
I can access my account via OWA's web interface without issue.

I do not want replace my Comcast modem as my iPhone and wifi-only iPad use the same home network and do not have any issues accessing or syncing email, calendars, contacts, and tasks with all of my Office 365 accounts. If stopping and restarting Outlook will always send my email without fail, and other internet devices sync without issue, then Outlook should have some mechanism for doing the same equivalent without restarting.

I'm posting this hoping that there might be some other solution I haven't tried, but I'm convinced this is an issue that should be addressed in Outlook - not by a change to my home network.

Gmail mail to Outlook 365 with IMAP

0

Initially my email is sent and received via a GMail account. On my home PC, I am using Office 365 including Outlook 365 with NO exchange server. I connect my outlook to Gmail with a Imap connection.

The syncing between Gmail and outlook is driving me crazy. I cannot seem to get rid of deleted mail, it just goes to a different folder. If I send something in Outlook, it ends up in the Gmail inbox with a label. Other mail ends up in the "important" folder for no reason.

The outlook PST file is not getting updated since I guess it assumes I no longer need it since everything is replicated on my Gmail account. I want my pst file to be the source of all current mail.

This is overkill way beyond what I need and I would like to get back to the era where my outlook was the master and if I deleted something there it went away. I really don't need all those folders in Gmail.

I tried setting up Pop3 accounts instead and lost all of my mail, so I am hesitant to act.

Help me out of this mail storm.

Message Body Blank When Opened in Outlook 2007/2010

Bizarre issue.  When a user creates a ticket by way of an email, our ticketing system sends an automatic reply for confirmation.  Recently it was discovered that when the email is received and the message is opened, the body of the message is blank. This is where is gets weird - the body of the message can be viewed in the new message notifier when in Outlook, when one replies to the message in Outlook, it can be fully viewed in OWA and on a mobile device.  If the user simply opens the email in Outlook to review, the message body is blank.

My initial reaction was obviously that it was client related (and I still believe this to be the case), but specific to AV at the local level.  We run TrendMicro and McAfee, TM for our VM's, McAfee for our physical machines - both illustrate the same behavior.

I took this a little further and unchecked the check-boxes for the following Outlook options below:

"Reduce message size by removing format information not necessary..." &
"Remove extra line breaks in plain text messages"

Also tried to CleanView and removed unneeded OST files.

Results are the same.  Anyone have any ideas?
