User having trouble connecting to 2nd Exchange server

One of our end-users is a contractor.  He's got a Workstation running Win7 Enterprise x64 with 8 GB RAM.  He has Office Professional Pro 2010 32-bit.  We've got his Outlook 2010 set up for 'our' Exchange server and for 'his' Exchange server.  It's worked in the past, but frequently "times out" when trying to connect to that server.  Admittedly, there's enough traffic on our network that sometimes it's slow for most everyone to access network resources or the internet.

I got a ticket on it yesterday and saw that he gets a 0x80040115 errror in Outlook when it fails to connect to the 2nd Exchange server.  All I can find in the logs is an Event ID: 43 Source: Outlook in the Application Log.  The descrioption is:"Search has encountered an unexpected memory error (<path to .OST file>).  Outlook will attempt to recover from this operation.  If the problem persists, run the Windows memory Diagnostic."  I ran scanpst.exe on his PST file, and re-created his .OST file.  Didn't seem to make a diffference for the remainder of the day, but I told him to see how it is in the morning (today).  He states that OWA is only slightly better.

I suspect it's more a network issue, but is there anything I can do at our end to improve his chances of maintaining a connection?

[Edit:  User emailed this morning that he can't connect using Outlook 2010, but can using OWA.]
