Microsoft Outlook 2010 Exchange Account Folder Synchronization Hangs

Hi guys,

I am having problem with my Exchange account configured in MS Outlook 2010.  The issue started when I was creating a personal folder under the folder "Inbox".  I managed to create a personal folder successfully and it appears as a sub-folder under the folder "Inbox" without any issue.  When I checked in OWA, I saw the same too.  So it was perfect.  However, when I tried to delete the personal folder, the folder was actually deleted successfully but somehow there appears to be a sub-folder icon still under the folder "Inbox" in Outlook 2010.  When I tried to expand the folder "Inbox" by clicking on the expansion icon, there appears to be nothing there (since it has already been deleted) and the expansion icon will just disappear then.  This problem is appearing in my Outlook 2010 only and not in OWA.

And this problem subsequently leads to the issue where the icon "Microsoft Outlook is synchronizing folders" freezes in the task bar.  Somehow it seems like Outlook 2010 is still trying to synchronize the deleted personal folder and I have tried creating the personal folder again but to no avail.  When the icon freezes in the task bar, Outlook 2010 is still running perfectly and it did not freeze at all.  It's just that the icon is too stubborn to revert it's status back to normal.  Another interesting point is that the status bar in Outlook 2010 actually says that "This folder is up to date" and no error can be seen at all in the status window.  When I open the status window, I can actually see that the progress bar is still running but it doesn't really say what it's trying to synchronize.  Everything has been completed successfully.

Any idea what could be wrong with the (a) personal folder deletion issue and (b) folder synchronization issue?
