Environment: Exchange 2010/Windows 7 ULT64BIT (Laptop & Desktop)/Outlook 2010
ISSUE: Users on their laptops are unable to reply to most external emails. Operation failed - can't resolve recipient.
Actions that DO NOT work:
1. Recreated Outlook Profile on laptop - Doesn't work.
2. Recreated User Windows Profile - Doesn't work.
Action that DOES work (for the most part):
1. Under the DESKTOP machines Exchange settings, "Cached Mode" is enabled which shouldn't be. I unchecked it.
- under "More Settings">"Connection" tab> "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" is checked which should not be. I unchecked it. Clicked "OK" to all windows to accept changes.
- on the same users laptop connected to the company domain I deleted all Mail Profiles. I then created a new profile and let Outlook automatically apply the default settings from Exchange. These auto settings already has "Cached Mode" checked and also "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" checked. These must be enabled on a laptop for Road Warrior purposes.
The user is able to now reply to external email.
ISSUE with this now is that when a user opens Outlook not connected to the internet, the LAPTOP creates a backup profile and switches to that profile, then when he/she connects to the internet the replies do not work again.
If they delete the "back-up" mail profile then use the one created above it works again.
I noticed on the DESKTOP within the exchange settings "Cached Mode" is unchecked which is good, but "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" under the "More Settings">"Connection" tab is checked which is bad and should not be the case due to the settings I made in the above steps.....
QUESTIONS - Is there any way to force the setting to stay? Why is Outlook on the LAPTOP creating a back-up profile thus reverting the user back to square one and not being able to reply to external emails?
Also this issue never occurred with Outlook 2007/Exchange 2007
Any direction would be great! Thank you!
