Outlook 2013: repeated password prompt when behind HTTP proxy that requires authentication

Hi all

I have two Exchange accounts:

  • Work, accessible when connected to work and from outside
  • Personal, through Office 365. Accessible everywhere that doesn't require HTTP proxy authentication.

However as internet access through work requires HTTP proxy authentication, I've never been able to access the O365 account at work through Outlook/Exchange Over HTTP. This is acceptable as there is still OWA that I can access via a browser.

I am currently testing out Outlook 2013 RTM (tried both x86 & x64, same problem), and even with the Preview this behaviour did not occur: that Outlookrepeatedly prompts me for credentials to the Office 365 account when at work.

When at work, using Outlook 2010/2013 Preview (both are x86 versions), Outlook simply ignores the fact that you can't connect to the Office 365 account and quietly "works offline" for that account. However the RTM version seems to have changed -- and nags me so much that I'm on the verge of uninstalling it! :(

Office 2013 is a terrific product -- there's a lot of new features that are very welcome (especially touch now that I have a Lenovo X230T with multitouch). But this is just .... aaargggghhh!!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this via some new tickbox that I haven't yet discovered, or does it require a patch?

Thanks in advance
