Mail periodically getting stuck in Outbox (OL2007)

I have a problem that's causing me some serious business difficulties - I switched from POP to IMAP about two months ago, and ever since that time I find messages stuck in the outbox from time to time. Sometimes everything will be fine for 10-12 hours, only to fail when I send the first email of the day (I leave Outlook running 24/7). Other times, it will fail during the afternoon.

I've tried the following:

- Run OL2007 in "safe" mode

- Create an entirely new profile

Neither of these actions corrected the problem. When I check the opm.log, I see that Outlook thinks I have no outgoing mail, although there are messages in the outbox. The only way I can get the mail to send is to bring Outlook down and re-start it. The 'stuck' mail then sends right away.

Here's a the last few entries in my opm.log - I tried sending a new email at 15:23, but as you can see, Outlook doesn't recognize the mail in the outbox.

I'm using Rackspace email services, but they have no idea why my mail is getting 'stuck,' and since Outlook is incorrectly saying that I have no outgoing mail, it seems like it must be an Outlook problem. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

========================

Here's an opm.log from today - I tried sending email at 15:24:34, but Outlook is reporting that there's no mail to be sent (one email was stuck in the outbox). I closed Outlook and restarted it, and the mail went out (you can see that Outlook found the message in the outbox at 15:44:12, and sent it successfully.
