Some Outlook 2007 users (on Exchange 2007) cannot open "Rules and Alerts" dialog with the error message saying "The operation failed. An object could not be found." after their mailbox data restore at the server side. It must be because the existing rules have been duplicated at the data restoring operation. We can see the status on OWA.
We executed "Outlook.exe /Cleanrules" at the client side in order to fix it and then confirmed it available to open the "Rules and Alerts" dialog. However, when we try to delete the duplicated rules and apply the correction, the action failed with some error messages meaning "The rules are different between the client and the server". It has not been resolved when we saved the rules in the server side only.
We tried to use "Mdbvu32.exe" to re-import the rules according to the KB287640; however, the test user in trouble must have eventually given it up.
Please let me know if someone knows the better way for the resolution. Thank you for your help in advance.
