Outgoing Emails from OUTLOOK 2010

Hi, We have a laptop that has OUTLOOK 2010 installed (OS Windows 7). We can receive emails from our POP3 server fine. (Telus.net) The problem sets in for the outgoing server. We are trying to use GMAIL as a relay to forward our emails as (Telus.net) Account on gmail all set up fine (see below). To do this we change the our going server setup in OUTLOOK to 'smtp.gmail.com', then go to additional settings - set the Authentication flag, enter our login gmail account name, and password. When we try a test (Next button - send email mesage), we get this error: "Send test email messageNone of the authenication methods supported by this client". We have a friend that has Windows Live in Windows 7, with exactly the same requirement - POP3 incoming and Smtp Gmail outgoing and it works fine. We have compared all the setup parameters and they are exactly the same. Outlook 2010 will not work. BUT there is another friend - same arrangement but uses Outlook 2000 and it works fine. All Gmail accounts set up alike - like IMAP, forwarding, etc.

Go figure, what did MS do to 2010? Help please.
