Odd Problem with Outlook Desktop Alerts

I've got a strange problem with my desktop alerts with Outlook 2010 that I was wondering if anyone else has seen.  From an initial boot up and launch of Outlook, desktop alerts and mail envelope in the notification area work fine.  Once the computer has been suspended or goes to sleep, they quit working.  So when a new message comes in, you see it bold in the inbox, but no sound, no desktop alert, and no envelope.  I know the settings are correct, because like I said, it works fine from an initial boot up.

Sometimes just closing Outlook and reopening it will make it work again, but not always.  Sometimes I have to reboot the machine to make it work again.

I find this so strange.  I was using the Outlook 2010 client with our 2003 Exchange servers, and I never had this problem.  It only seemed to start happening since I recently migrated my mailbox to our new Exchange 2010 servers, so my assumption is that the Exchange 2010 mailbox has something to do with it.

Anyone have any ideas?  Office and OS have been fully patched up to latest.  Thanks!
