The other day, I had to reset my password for my email account with my provider (Comcast). As expected, I had to resync Outlook with the Comcast email server and that all went fine. But, since that date, I am not seeing any new email in my Inbox, and I also don't see any messages in my Sent Mail folder after I send some. Yet, when I sync up with the Comcast email server, I see the progress bar with the number of messages and overall size being processed, and the little pop-up window displays all the headers of the messages processed. At the end of the Sync, I also see the message that I have "New messages in my Inbox", but they are not there. I even clicked on some of those pop-up headers and displayed the complete messages. I looked at the message properties, and they all indicated they were in the Inbox Folder. But, there are no messages in the Inbox Folder. I checked the Junk Mail Folder, but nothing there either.
When I login to the Comcast web site, I can see all of my messages there in the Inbox, all still unread. I also get all of my messages on my BlackBerry just fine, and if I setup my Comcast account under Windows Live Mail, I also get all of my messages just fine there too. I have my mailbox settings on the Comcast server to keep messages on the server, so I can get my messages in both Outlook and the BlackBerry. That has always worked fine (for years), and all of the missing messages are still in the server mailbox.
I ran Microsoft's Inbox Repair Tool, but nothing changed. I ran setup for MS Office 2010 and ran the Repair function. No change. I uninstalled Norton 360, even though I'm not using its SPAM filter. I uninstalled all of my Outlook Add-Ins, like for MindManager and Adobe, still no change. I deleted all of my rules, still no change. I uninstalled Outlook completely, and then reinstalled with a new setup of my Comcast account. Setup goes fine, but still nothing in my Inbox!
As I'm sitting here now, I see the periodic Outlook pop-up windows of new message headers and the notice that I have new mail in my Inbox, but still nothing. It's almost like the messages are being siphoned off to a hidden place, but I cannot find them anywhere.
I discussed the issue with Comcast, but they indicate as long as I'm receiving them in other email clients (LiveMail and BlackBerry), and they remain on the server for other clients, like Outlook, there is nothing else they can do. It sounds like an Outlook issue to them.
I have used Outlook with Comcast email for many years, so none of it is new to me. But, this problem has me baffled. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
