Hi,
Hoping someone can help out here regarding a question about Exchange's handling of messages that have Forward To: set up in the Mail Flow Settings in Exchange 2010.
Scenario is thus:
Email comes into Exchange Server A, this has the Forward To: set up pointing to Exchange Server B (external, also 2010), but has "Deliver Message to both forwarding address and mailbox"unchecked
My question is: Is there any trace of this mail on Exchange A?
I'm trying to find the original email in question to supply to our AV vendor. They require the original, not the forwarded version.
I have looked in the mail account in question in both deleted items and the Tools > Recover Deleted Items. As far as I can tell, when the Exchange settings are as above, Exchange A literally acts as a relay and doesn't seem to keep copies of the emails (accessible to the user).
Any exchange Gurus know of a way of finding the email in the guts of the exchange server, there must be a trace of it somewhere surely?
Thanks in advance
