Outlook 2010 and windows search

Hi i've a windows 2003 standard edition with outlook 2010.

i have poor performance due tue indexing and i would uninstall windows search.

i know that outlook 2010 need windows search for indexing and real searching but my question is: "outlook 2010 must necessarily have windows search or can function without it?"
