PPS file open from outlook 2010 in edit mode

Problem:

When i open a PPS file from outlook 2010 it will open in edit mode instead of the expected show mode.

I have tried some of the other recommended steps such as disabling security mode in outlook,

I also downloaded a microsoft hotfix which was released on the 24th april 2012 which was suppose to fix this issue, but it did not resolve the problem.

If anyone knows a solution it would be greatly appreciated
