A few users are seeing 4-5 letters remove from Subject line when replying to an email.  Seems to happen if a word is inserted in a Reply before the colon:

Original:  Microsoft Outlook

Reply:  RE:  Microsoft Outlook

Additional Reply:  Mailings RE:  Microsoft Outlook

RESULT:  lings RE: Microsoft Outook

I cant seem to force this to occur and hasnt happened on my computer or every user.  We are on Exchange Server 2007/Outlook 2007.

Propagate Folder Share Permissions to Subfolders

When setting sharing permissions on an Outlook personal folder, that has several dozen subfolders, is it possible (and if so, how?) to get the share permissions set at the parent folder to propagate down to the subfolders, or do the share permissions need to be manually configured on every subfolder?

Changing email setting from IMAP to POP3

I want to change the connection between GMAIL and Outlook 365 (No exchange server involved) from IMAP to POP3. What I don't want to do is to lose the mail residing in the IMAP folders in Gmail and Outlook. Many articles suggest making a new account. I don't know if they are referring to a new account on Gmail or Outlook. I'm having trouble understanding how it could be outlook since there is not an account there anyway. There are OST and PST files is that what the "new" account is referring to? Once this account is connected I assume to Gmail via Pop3, then all the inbox mail would be delivered including that which resides in the IMAP folders.

I will appreciate more of step by step instruction so that my existing mail is saved.

Thank you

Outlook 2010 not responding when many users remote access

hi all,

I am in a school environment, in one of our labs I have modified the registry to allow 19 users to remote connect to a Windows 7 64bit professional computer running on a powerful dell server, on which the office 2010 pro 64bit is installed on.

After a week, users told me that their remote desktop session hang, and it seems like when any one of remote session hangs, all the others user also hang. I login with local admin and found that the memory and CPU usage are all very low.I checked the events and found the following (see picture below).

Obviously it is caused by the outlook.exe and followed by explorer.exe, which results in the whole system hang. I have tried to disable windows firewall, disable system protection. But the problem occur again and again, so I have to reboot the windows 7 server again and again.

Eventually I decided to downgrade office 2010 to office 2003, and now everything is fine. However, our clients desperately need office 2010.

What could have caused outlook 2010 hang? I wish to hear your advice. Thanks!

Is Outlook Business Contact Manager a load of rubbish?

$

I've tried using the Business Contact Manager addin on Outlook 2013 to familiarise myself with it, as most of my clients would be more interested in trying it out before moving on Dynamics CRM.

At first it seemed pretty good, with wide integration with the Office suite and decent functionality.  However, now it has stopped starting with Outlook.  I enabled the addin to always start (as it was disabled because it was causing Outlook to start slowly), but now I have to set the whole thing up again.

I didn't make a note of the SQL database credentials on my first tryout, and it won't be too much hassle to set up again, but I don't want to spend any more time with it if this is the sort of thing it does on a regular basis.

Is Business Contact Manager usable?  Why has it stopped working and does this often happen with Office 2013?

EXE download error from our web site

Some EXEs from our website are not downloading completely.

(ex: ftp://www.winmansoftware.com/files/WinmanCAERP_Update.EXE)

Download completes 99% and gives error.  But the same EXEs are downloading from other websites like Drop Box etc.

Error file link is: http://incometaxsoft.com/err.gif

Error is coming in less than 1% of our customers’ Pcs. For remaining customers same files get downloaded properly.

EXE is digitally signed with thawte code signing certificate. Certification path image link is:http://incometaxsoft.com/cer.gif

We tried various options as mentioned below. (but in all the cases problem persisted)

  1. Tried with different browsers - chrome, Firefox.
  2. Cleared DNS configurations and IP reset
  3. Uninstalled Client pc Antivirus
  4. Disabled our web server antivirus.
  5. Error comes in our own download utility (using winsock) also.
  6. We restarted our web server.

When we compressed our exe (as .zip) file got downloaded & got extracted. Our

We are using “Windows Server 2008 R2” in our web server. We have 2 web servers and both are of same configuration.

Server configuration:

OS: Windows Server 2008 R2

Antivirus: Symantec  Endpoint Protection 2012

Client pc configuration:

Operating System Version - Windows XP Service Pack 3

Antivirus: Avast in one pc & Kaspersky Internet security 2013 in other pcs

Internet connection: Wired Broad Band with automatic IP configuration

Internet Explorer Version - Internet Explorer 6.0.2900

In summary

  1. same file can be downloaded from Dropbox
  2. If we compress it gets downloaded from our website itself,
  3. In lots of other computers can download exe itself without error (more than 2500 PCs have downloaded it & error comes in around 5 PCs)

If it was web server issue then other customers could not have downloaded. If it was customer PC issue they could not have downloaded from Dropbox.

Now how to trace err? What are the solutions?

Outlook 2013 printing tasks with message preview

I have message preview set to three lines on my tasks view. When I try to print a table view of my tasks, all of the tasks are collapsed with no message preview. This worked in 2007 and 2010. I did verify this works with email messages. Not sure if this is a bug or I missed a setting somewhere. Any help would be appreciated. It's really messing up my GTD system!!

Forwarding emails in Outlook 2003 doesn't always include the full email address of original sender, but instead display name

Hi

Forwarding emails in Outlook 2003 doesn't always include the full email address of original sender, but instead display name.

For Exmaple , when I forward below email to my colleague, the email addresses that should be linked to the display names in bold are missing / not visible. So when my Colleague wants to reply to this email, he doesn't have the email address.

I have disabled Automatic Name checking in Outlook 2003, however it doesn't appear to have resolved the problem.

Please can you advise how we can get outlook 2003 to output the full email address , so that other who receive the forwarded email can use the email address

Outlook Page Numbering Problem

Hi,

When printing from VBA or from an add-in, the total number of pages in the outlook header is coming out as zero. In my header I have [Total Pages] set, and the code for printing is:

Application.ActiveInspector.CurrentItem.PrintOut

Essentially, MailItem.PrintOut always seems to calculate total pages as zero. Is this a known issue?

Thanks,

Tristan

Outlook 2013 Inbox Update After Send/Receive Not Refreshed

Having a minor annoyance in Outlook 2013 I would like to resolve. I have several pop3 accounts setup and I have changed the inbox folder for all of them to go into one "Group Inbox". When new mail comes in, the group inbox is not updated. I have to click on another folder first and then click back on the inbox in order to refresh it.

In older versions of outlook, the inbox would update immediately with the new mail.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help :)

Hello,

I use Outlook 2010 to connect to an Exchange server 2003 mailbox.  The mailbox has multiple email addresses associated with it for various domains and I would like to be able, when composing a new email, to specify which email address is the reply address.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Steve Everington

Outlook 2013 to Exchange 2010 - Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window

Good Morning,

Brief summary:

We have an MS Exchange 2003. I recently "coexist" and installed MS Exchange 2010 with CAS and Hub Transport Role, but Outlook 2013 still cannot connect. What am I missing? Launching Outlook 2013 I get this error:

"The resource that you are trying to use is located on unsupported version of Microsoft Exchange. Contact your e-mail administrator for assistance."

On the second dialog box I get: " Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window."

Outlook 2003, 2007, and 2010 can connect to the server and mails are flowing fine. Please advise.

Cannot publish calendars to Microsoft online from Outlook 2007

My wife and I have previously shared our respective Outlook 2007 calendars by publishing to microsoft online. This has just stopped working  on both our W7 computers  (since the last round of patches, perhaps).  If I try to publish I am asked to log in, but when I do so (using an ID and password that work on other MS services, including this one) the server appears to reject it - and I am asked again to sign in.  If I cancel, then I get a message saying that if I have forgotten my password I can 'change account' in the Tools/Account Settings dialog box, but when I try that there is a dialog box entitled 'Microsoft Office Online Registration' that says (Under the heading 'Sign in'): "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later."  This has been going on for about 48 hours (at least).

Does anybody have a solution, or suggestions?

-----------------------------------------------------------

I have just realised that I have wrongly posted this on an IT Pro forum - apologies for the intrusion.

However, if anybody is interested there is already a thread  on a less expert forum that shows a fair number of people suffering the same problem, especially in the last few days: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2007-outlook/outlook-not-accepting-microsoft-live-credentials/79a4fefd-2061-4982-8b25-4a12f02c4be9?page=3&tm=1360972473293

No response from MS yet. ...

Outlook 2013 - Exchange Outlook anywhere

Hi

I'm the admin of our own hosted Exchange 2010 server. We have 1 client access server and 1 mailbox server, both running Server 2008 Std and Exchange 2010.

Running Outlook 2010 and earlier, there's absolutely no problems, no popups whatsoever. I upgraded to Outlook 2013 as one of my clients did the same and started getting popups. When you open Outlook, I get a popup - "Windows Security - Microsoft Outlook - Connecting to my e-mail address". The OK is greyed out and when I click on Cancel, Outlook shows "Need Password" in the bottom right hand corner. When I click on that, Outlook connects and works perfectly from there. When I close and re-open Outlook, same thing happens.

From other forums I checked for the two updates they mentioned, but I do not have them. I tried installing them to remove again, but they weren't even compatible with my setup. (Win 7 Ent, Office 2013 Pro). I checked the Autodiscover SSL settings under my CAS' IIS and that is set to Ignore Client Certificates.

Are there any other things I can try?

Outlook 2010 Export Contact Records Incomplete

When Exporting Contact records from Outlook 2010 to a CSV file, not all of the Contact records are exported. I moved 21 records to a new Contact folder as a test. Only 18 of the 21 records exported successfully. I tried it several times. The same 18 exported sucessfully. It appears there is some flag or something that is preventing three of the records not to export. However, looking at the three records, there is nothing obvious that would prevent them from exporting.

forwarding a meeting invitation in Outlook issue - who gets the forwarded message?

$

I got a meeting invitation from an organizer(A). The recipients include myself, some other people, and a group address(G).
I forwarded this invitation to someone else(B) with some message. I realized that, on outlook, the "required" field for the meeting message has been changed. The required field now include all the original recipients plus person B.
Thus I am wondering who gets the forwarded message. Does only person B get the message? Do all people in the original recipient list get the message I forwarded to person B?
I really hope only person B has received the forwarded message.
