Outlook 2007 Freezes when opening messages

I'm having issues with Outlook 2007 on a Vista Business (x86) System. Outlook is accessing an Exchange account from an SBS 2011 (Exchange 2010) server located on the local LAN. Office 2007 is at SP3, and has all Microsoft Updates applied.

The issue is that when Outlook firsts opes a message (or displays it in the reading pane), Outlook will go into a "not responding" state for about a minute and a half, and then displays normally, and seem to work normally from then on.

Outlook is in cached mode, I tried disabling cached mode, but it didn't make a difference.

I tried starting Outlook in the /cleanprofile and /cleanviews mode, but it didn't make a difference.

I tried starting Outlook in Safe Mode. It runs fine, so I went into the trust center and unchecked all COM Addins and Exchange client side extensions, but that didn't make a difference.

I ran an Office 2007 repair, but no change.

I created a new Outlook Profile, but the issue persisted.

I ran the ScanOST tool, issue persisted.

User's exchange mailbox is less than 100 MB, not very big at all.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Outlook 2010 prompts for program to open links that are in e-mails

I have reviewed many threads and tried multiple fixes but am unable to resolve this issue.

A few days ago a client started having issues with links included in e-mails opening.  She indicates it started happening following updates pushed out via the VAIO (it's a Sony VAIO laptop) update utility.  I looked at a potential system restore but the only dates available were the checkpoints and restore points made during my initial troubleshooting.

It prompts her to choose the program to open with.  I tried resetting IE9 to defaults, downgrading to IE8, uninstalling Chrome and Firefox, exporting a reg key from a known good machine to her machine, setting the default browser as IE.

None of these items have worked.  When I uninstalled alternate browsers, the error message did change to a restrictions error, which was not resolved by the MS Fix-It tool or the registry export-import.

I reinstalled Chrome and Firefox (she needs these browsers for a specific purpose) and if I set Chrome (I did not try Firefox) to the default browser, the links will open properly in Chrome, so it appears to be a communication issue with Outlook and IE.

Given what I have tried, what other potential fixes are available?

What other information can I give to help resolve the issue?

OS - W7 x64 - Browser IE9 - Outlook 2010

Publish the same calendar multiple times in Outlook with different details

Does anybody know if there's a way to publish the same calendar multiple times in Outlook with different details? I have someone in my organization who has been using a non-microsoft service for his personal calendaring and at work we are using Exchange. He would like his wife to be able to view his calendar through their other service. We can publish the calendar to the web and their service can pick it up just fine. My question, "Is there a way to publish a calendar with multiple URLs based to have varying permissions?" Is it possible to publish the calendar with appointment details showing for his own personal account and publish the calendar again with only busy/available showing for his wife's calendar? From what I've found it's an either/or situation as you can only publish each calendar in a single format.

Email Stuck in Outlook 2010 outbox

First let me say that I use Outlook 2010 and for the most part I am VERY happy with it.  But yesterday I was sending emails with attachments and 4 out of the 8 that I sent are still stuck in the outbox.  If I send other emails that do not have attachments it is still taking a long time for them to go through.  I have now had to go to my hotmail account to send mail (which is what I did not want to do since I use Outlook) so that it can bypass the stuck emails.  Is there a way to move/delete something to get them gone so that I can send mail like before?

Hello

I've tried to search for a solution, regarding auto configuration of outlook 2007/2010 at first startup, but with out luck.

What I'm trying to achieve is, that first time a user opens outlook it goes straight to 'inbox'; so the user doesnt have to do the initial task setting up his outlook account.

Windows 7 Pro SP1

Outlook 2010

Issue: When I go to run microsoft outlook 2010. The program is running, however it will not open. The only way to run the program and use it is doing "outlook.exe /safe" This issue occurred after outlook froze and I had to end its process.

What I have tried so far:

  • Re-Creating mail profile
  • Repair Office
  • Re-Install office
  • Repair PST
  • outlook.exe /resetnavpane
  • Disabling all add-ons

I am all out of things I can think of. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Where to find an Action Pack Downloadable version of Business Contact Manager 2010?

Where can I find the current versions of BCM 2010 to install with my Outlook 2010?

I had previously downloaded the BCM 2010 app, installed it, and then uninstalled it when I started having issues a day ago. Now I cannot find the app to reinstall. I am in hopes I do not have to revert to Outlook 2007 and BCM 2007.

I have used BCM since version 2003 and have a sizable history in the database.

Thank you for your assistance.

Annoying issue - Outlook crash when secondary Exchange account receive calendar invite outside organization

$

I was researching about this issue for months, it's hard to find another usual scenario that got same error cause only few users have more than 1 exchange account configured on same outlook.

Tested scenarios:

2 exchange accounts on Windows 7 home, Office 2010 Professional
2 exchange accounts on Windows 7 professional (2 computers), Office 2010 Professional
2 exchange accounts on Mac OS 10.7, Office 2011 for Mac
2 exchange accounts on Mac OS 10.8, Office 2011 for Mac

Issue:

Outlook app crash some seconds before receive an external calendar invite.

Excluded possibilities:

It does not happens on first (default) exchange account on same profile
It does not happens on seccond exchange account if sent from another account is same organization
It's not a profile issue, application issue, OS issue or acount issue. All tests was generated using different servers and different accounts provided by Office 365.
I don't think that's a Office 365 issue, cause it happens only on secondary account and the configured settings is the same than default account.

Gererated application error:

HELP - Windows Mobile Contact Notes Field Truncation

$

When I sync my Windows Mobile 7 cell phone with my 2010 Outlook Contacts... the contact notes transferred to the phone are truncated.  I do not know after how many characters it truncates the rest.

I have reloaded Outlook, I have done a hard reset on my cell phone, I have reloaded Windows Mobile Device Center, and reloaded Sync Center - it appears to be a Windows Mobile Operating System error, limitation, or setting... as this truncation never occurred with my older Windows Mobile 6.x phones

I know it is also not a memory problem as the Outlook Contact Note fields only contain text and the phone has 16 GB of memory.

What do I do to get the whole note field into my mobile phone?

Thanks, Ron Carpino

IRM - Set Permissions - Do Not Forward - Can't open email

$

Hi,

I just can't get the Outlook 2010 IRM Permissions feature to work :-(

Scenario: (an example using silly email addresses not real ones)

Laptop A: Outlook 2010. POP3 joe@bloggs.com Windows Live ID: joe@passport.com
Laptop B: Outlook 2010. POP3 jack@frost.com Windows Live ID jack@passport.com

Jack and Joe use POP3 email hosted by different ISPs. They do not use Exchange Server. Straightforward email works ok. They decided to have the ability to secure or restrict email on as as needed basis. They have installed free email certificates from Comodo.com and can send signed and encrypted emails ok.

They decided to also add the ability to restrict the forwarding/printing/copying of their emails using Microsoft's free IRM service.

Both Joe and Jack have signed up to Microsoft's free IRM service using Outlook 2010 (Permissions...Manage Credentials) and signed up for the service using their own individual passport.com Windows Live IDs. They are both running Windows 7 and Office 2010.

This happens.

Joe sends an email from joe@bloggs.com to Jack at jack@frost.com with Permissions set to Do Not Forward (the only option available).

Jack tries to open the email and gets a message box saying "You do not have credentials that allow you to open this message. Do you want to open it using a different set of credentials?"

I am confused! I thought the idea of the Information Rights Management Service was to enable the sending of email to anybody, but with restricted options. Why can't Jack even open the email?

Can anybody explain what I'm doing wrong, or what I've misunderstood?

Thanks,

Glyn.

Importing .pst files - no e-mails appearing

I have just moved to a new computer and copied the .pst files from my previous computer, which was running Outlook 2010 under Win7 over as well. However when I try to open them in my new copy of Outlook 2010 it doesn't appear to be finding any e-mails.... I don't think the file is corrupt, as I am able to see the e-mails using the Kernel Outlook PST viewer.

Any ideas what might be happening (and how to fix this?)?

Outlook 2010 Autodiscover working for some domain users but not others

$

I have a group of user accounts in our domain where Outlook 2010 autodiscover is not working. When you login on a PC for the first time and open Outlook 2010, the User name and email address fields are blank. It doesn't appear to me like Outlook is even attempting to resolve the user name and email address. I can logon to the same PC with other accounts in the domain and autodiscover works properly. This is only occurring with a small subset of accounts and can reproduced reliably.

When logged in on the PC with the account where autodiscover isn't working, I ran Test E-mail Autoconfiguration from within Outlook and compared it to the same test for a user where autodiscover is working properly and the test passes with identical results.

I thought perhaps it might be permissions or GPO related somehow so I applied the same permissions and GPOs to both the PC and user account of a known working user and still autodiscover isn't working.

I also did an attribute by attribute comparison of the working account with the one that isn't and nothing is jumping out at me as being out of the ordinary.

Is there something on a user account that could be keeping Autodiscover from working correctly? Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this further? I am stumped at the moment.
